A surge arrester is a protective device used in power systems to limit voltage stress on equipment by safely discharging or bypassing surge current. It prevents continuous follow current to ground and is designed to perform repeated protective operations in accordance with ANSI C62.11 standards.
Product Type: 220kV Polymer Surge Arrester
The 220kV polymer surge arrester is a key protective component in high-voltage transmission systems. It is widely used to safeguard transformers, switchgear, transmission lines, and substations from lightning strikes and switching surges.
Housing Options
There are two main types of surge arresters in power systems:
- Polymer (Composite Silicone Rubber) Surge Arrester
- Porcelain Housing Surge Arrester
The main difference lies in the external insulation housing:
- Polymer type uses silicone rubber composite material
- Porcelain type uses traditional ceramic insulation
Polymer surge arresters offer better contamination resistance, lighter weight, and improved mechanical flexibility, making them increasingly preferred in modern power grids.
Technical Compliance & Standards
Our surge arresters are designed and tested in accordance with:
- IEC 60099-4 (International Standard for Surge Arresters)
- ANSI/IEEE C62.11 (American National Standard for Metal-Oxide Surge Arresters)
These standards ensure high reliability, consistent performance, and global compatibility.
