Lightning Arrester

Lightning Arrester (Station & Distribution Class)

We manufacture lightning arresters (surge arresters) for medium to ultra-high voltage applications. Available in station class and distribution class, with polymer or porcelain housing. All arresters use in-house manufactured MOV (ZnO varistors) and comply with IEC 60099-4 / ANSI C62.11.

Station Class vs Distribution Class – What You Need to Know

Station class arresters are designed for substations, power plants, and high-voltage transmission lines. They handle higher fault currents (20kA–40kA) and provide protection for equipment like transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear.

Distribution class arresters are used on overhead distribution lines and pole-mounted transformers. They typically have 10kA nominal discharge current and are more lightweight, often with polymer housing for easy field installation.

Voltage & Application Guide

  • 3kV–36kV: Distribution class (pole lines, transformers)

  • 36kV–132kV: Station class (substations, industrial plants)

  • 132kV–1000kV: Station class ultra-high voltage (custom order)
