Suspension insulators are the backbone of overhead high-voltage transmission lines,
which is suspending the conductor from the tower while providing the necessary electrical insulation. Asia Power manufactures a comprehensive range of suspension insulator strings, including traditional cap-and-pin porcelain types and modern composite polymer types, all built to deliver unmatched reliability and longevity.
Advantages of Our Suspension Insulators:
- High Voltage Ratings: Suitable for EHV and UHV transmission projects.
- Robust Construction: Porcelain discs or composite polymer sheds resist impact and degradation.
- Flexibility: Strings can be configured with any number of units to achieve the desired voltage rating.
- Pollution Resistance: Specially designed shed profiles for areas with high contamination.
- Corrosion-Resistant Fittings: High-strength malleable iron or hot-dip galvanized steel caps and balls.
Primary Applications:
- Suspending Conductors on Transmission Towers
- Tension Applications in Dead-End Structures
- Substation Busbar Suspension

Suspension Insulator
Our standard disc insulators are available with MFL ratings from 70kN to 300kN. The Routine Test Load (RTL) is 50% of MFL as per IEC standards.
We offer both ball & socket and clevis & tongue connections, manufactured to standard dimensions for full interchangeability in existing strings.
We use an expansion-compensated cement and a meticulous pressure-grouting process to create a perfect, void-free fit between the porcelain, pin, and cap, eliminating internal discharge paths.
This depends on system voltage and the specific pollution level (Class I-IV). We provide engineering support to recommend the optimal number of discs for your project location.
Porcelain discs have a proven service life exceeding 50 years without material degradation. They do not require hydrophobicity checks and are immune to brittle fracture, offering predictable, long-term reliability, though they are heavier.
